Bourbon Kings Brass Band (a.k.a SFBK)
BIO
Founded in the fall of 2009, the co-led Bourbon Kings Brass Band was created for only one reason, to have a good time! The music of BKBB includes originals, traditional and classic New Orleans with most of its members having lived, performed and recorded with some of its’ hometown Masters. Our interpretation is not to recreate New Orleans music but rather embody the spirit, swing and grooves that make you shake your whole body.
BKBB is also know as San Francisco Bourbon Kings (SFBK) which includes a change in the instrumentation including banjo and clarinet to celebrate the music of Danny Barker and other traditional New Orleans composers.
New Orleans is the foundation for all of American music. BKBB has performed at events including SFJAZZ Festival, Treasure Island Festival, Embarcadero Center and CODA Jazz Super Club. Come dance, sing and party with the Kings.
A home-brewed assemblage of Bay Area all-stars. Saturated in the ebullient spirit of New Orleans, the S.F. Bourbon Kings are committed to the timeless Crescent City credo: “Laissez les bons temps rouler!” (Let the good times roll!)
